1. All fees and charges for interment must be paid for at the time the order is given, or the application for the same is made, to the Clerk.
2. Certificates of death to be produced. The name of the parish or district from which the body is removed and all other information required by the Council to be stated at the time of paying the fees, in the form provided by the Council.
3. The selection of the spot for the grave or graves will be made by the Council or the Clerk on its behalf.
4. A Register of Burials is kept by the Clerk, by whom searches will be made and certificates provided.
5. No unwalled grave shall be re-opened within 14 years after the burial of a person above 12 years of age, or within 8 years after the burial of a child under 12 years of age, unless to bury another member of the same family, in which case a layer of earth not less than one foot thick shall be left undisturbed above the previously buried coffin, but if, on re-opening any grave, the soil be found to be offensive, such soil shall not be disturbed and in no case shall human remains be removed from the grave.
6. In all unbricked graves, and where the exclusive right of burial is not purchased, coffins of wood only shall be allowed. No coffin shall be buried in any unwalled grave within 4 feet of the ordinary level of the ground, unless it contains the body of a child aged under 12 years, when it shall not be less than 3 feet below that level.
7. No memorial other than an upright headstone, not to exceed 3 feet in height above ground level, fixed to a concrete shoe below ground level shall be permitted A copy of the Inscription intended to be inserted shall be submitted for approval, if it contains anything beyond the name, age and date of decease. No monument or gravestone can be admitted without such written approval. The number of the grave, corresponding with the interment book must also be placed on each monument or gravestone. No vase or flower/plant container shall be placed on any grave without the express permission of the Council. In no circumstances will glass containers be permitted.
7(a) No memorial in the Garden of Remembrance shall exceed 18 inches by 14 inches and shall be flat and sited with or without a plinth at ground level except that, where an integral flower holder is included, the panel containing the holder may be marginally above ground level when that part of the tablet inscribed with commemorative wording is of angled design rather than being flat.
8. All private graves and vaults, with the monuments and gravestones, to be kept in repair by the owners; in default of which (after notice in writing) the same will be liable to be forfeited to the Council, who shall be entitled to take possession of, and repair or remove as they shall deem expedient. Any monument or gravestone considered to be of danger to any person will be removed by the Council without prior notice and stored.
9. The Burial Ground is open daily until sunset, but children under 14 years of age will not be admitted, unless accompanied by a responsible adult. Dogs, except assistance dogs, will not be admitted.
10. All graves in the new cemetery are to be filled in at an interment so that no mound remains after due allowance for sinking.
10(a) The undertaker or other person carrying out a burial shall be responsible, at his own cost, for the removal of all excess soil following the re-instatement of the grave in question.
11. No trees or shrubs to be planted on any grave, nor any garden or flower bed created.
12. All certificates of disposal of body are to be sent or handed in to the Clerk after interments.

Fernhurst Cemetery Lynch Gates
We own and are responsible for Fernhurst Parish Cemetery. We keep the cemetery in good order, mow the grass and ensure that the area is kept free of litter so that those who wish to visit the graves can do so in peace and tranquillity.
We also manage the reservation of plots and internments. Please see the regulations and application forms below. The Clerk, is available to advise you.
The Cemetery is a place of quiet contemplation and remembrance. Please note that Dogs are not permitted in the cemetery grounds.
